I say this not to underscore the importance of your wedding day, but to remind you that in the big picture and whole spectrum of your life this day is about the marriage that will follow more than the wedding day itself. Keep that as your focus through your planning process.

We do this because it is our passion and drives us, because the sense of satisfaction we feel when we see the smiles on your face on your wedding day makes it worth all the craziness. We truly see being part of your day as an honor and a privilege.

The series of newsletters you will receive from Get Weddy Chicago are based off of the way I plan a wedding with my clients. This formula is backed by eleven years of experience, a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and hours of labor and research. Nothing will replace a full service wedding planner, but this will give you a guideline and working knowledge to plan your big day if you must go it alone.

The newsletters will serve as your roadmap of whom you need to hire, how to hire them and how to prepare for the day. The contributing writers are experts in their field and will give you insights on what to look for when interviewing potential vendors, how to select venues and photo locations, how to design and implement a timeline of events and how to let go and enjoy your wedding day stress free. They will be sent in a time appropriate sequence and will walk you through the process.

The most common this I hear from my brides is “I feel overwhelmed.” I was once asked “How do you eat an elephant?” I didn’t know the answer at the time, but I can tell you now. The answer to that question (and to your feeling of being overwhelmed) is one bite at a time. When you tackle your wedding elephant take one bite at a time as well.
