Boudoir is the hot new trend for brides to give to their grooms as their wedding gift. Boudoir is a form of photography derived from the french word bouder meaning “to pout” and refers to a woman’s bedroom. Boudoir is typically done in either a studio or an upscale hotel room to get that bedroom feel. Boudoir photographers aim to make women feel more beautiful themselves, many women do boudoir more for themselves than for their significant others!
The session is to celebrate you as a woman no matter what size you are and empower you to feel sexy. The attire for the session is anything that makes you feel beautiful which can aim from a sexy dress to lingerie to your favorite pair of jeans.
Typically in boudoir sessions, lingerie is the choice for attire and outfit choices range from babydolls, garters, corsets, chemises to bra and panty sets, anything really goes depending on the clients comfort level. Some boudoir shows more than others and it’s up to the photographer and the client to talk about what they are comfortable with and what kind of session they are wanting. Some photographers do more editing than others but most will fix blemishes and make you look your best. Professional makeup and hair styling is recommended but makeup is the most important as it helps you feel more glamorous on the day of your session. Many photographers will include the makeup session in their package pricing. Boudoir will typically cost at least $200 and up from a reputable boudoir photographer for just the session.
Most brides buy a photobook to give to their grooms the night before the wedding so that he can look forward to the wedding day even more than he already is. Boudoir is a great gift for the man who has everything and any woman who wants to feel beautiful, empowered and sexy even when they think they aren’t. Women who do boudoir walk away feeling better about themselves and are happy they did the process. Boudoir should be booked 2-3 months in advance of your wedding so that it allows time for any products you ordered to arrive.
